The Scuola della Carità (secular confraternity), the oldest in Venice (1260) became in 1807 seat of the Accademia Galleries, while the Fine Arts school (1750) is now situated in the convent of the Church of Santa Maria della Carità.

The Accademia is home to the most important collection of Venetian paintings from 1300 to 1700: Bellini, Giorgione, Tiziano, Veronese, Tintoretto, Guardi, the extraordinary Carpaccio’s cycle of Sant’Orsola, the cycle of “teleri” (paintings on large canvas)

of the Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista which depict Venetian life of XV century… Colour and light everywhere, a light that inundates the landscape and wraps everything in a pantheist vision of reality such as in Giorgione’s La Tempesta (The Tempest), simbol of the painting techniques defined “tonalism” and “sfumato”.

The tour includes: the Accademia Museum: Bellini, Giorgione, Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, Guardi, the cycle of Sant’Orsola and the “teleri” cycle of Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista.
