This tour suggests an itinerary through Castello, the largest district of Venice where some among the most important foreign communities once lived.

We will visit the small Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni which houses a cycle of “teleri” (paintings on large canvases) dedicated to the Patron Saints of Dalmatians by Carpaccio, such as the famous “Visione di Sant’Agostino” (Vision of St. Augustine).

This small hall is a precious legacy of Italian Renaissance recreated by Carpaccio in a Venetian interior. Our tour now heads to the Arsenal….

Through a maze of narrow calli, we will reach Campo San Zanipolo, once also called “campo of wonders”, to admire the façade of the Scuola di San Marco, the equestrian monument of mercenary Bartolomeo Colleoni, by Verrocchio, Leonardo da Vinci’s master, and the gothic Dominican church, the Doges’ pantheon.

The tour includes: Scuola Dalmata with the Carpaccio’s cycle, Arsenal external walls and the Church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo.

Admission: Scuola Dalmata €3; Santi Giovanni e Paolo €2.50. Every day except from Sundays.
