We are now on the Rivo Alto island. From the top of the bridge on which 24 shops are located and whose foundations are made up of over 10,000 poles, we can admire the Grand Canal and its rows of palaces…

This district used to gather change offices, here merchants arrived from all around the world with their goods: fabrics from the Flanders, silk, perfumes, balms from the East, opium from Cairo…

Today this very lively fruit, vegetable and fish market is still a favourite site for Venetians.

We will cross over to the other shore of the Grand Canal on board a “traghetto” gondola to visit the Cà d’Oro, one of the most beautiful gothic palaces turned into a museum that hosts Baron Franchetti’s collection of paintings, among which San Sebastian by Mantenga, as well as sculptures, bronzes and tapestries

The tour includes: The Rialto Bridge, Rialto neighbourhood, market, Grand Canal cross over by gondola (“traghetto”) (50 eurocents per person), the Ca’ d’Oro Museum.

Admission adults €5.50, free for up to 18 and over 65 yrs.

Closed on Monday afternoons
